Inspired by the Africa Agenda 2063 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals: CAADP Youth Network (CYN), was formed at the Youth Side Event during the 12TH CAADP Partnership Platform Meeting organized by the African Union Commission and NEPAD on April 12, 2016 in Accra – Ghana: principally as a Pan-African Consortium of youth organizations and initiatives working on agriculture and sustainable livelihoods across Africa. CYN aims to mainstream meaningful youth participation and needs in the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) and the 2014 Malabo Implementation and Monitoring Processes, especially the Joint Sector Review (JSR), National Agriculture Investment Plan (NAIP) and Regional Agriculture Investment Plans (RAIP). Goal of CYN, is to create (1) million jobs for youth in the Agriculture value chain by 2025; through access to land, markets, innovative financing, training and green technology for 1000 African Youth Agripreneurs by 2022.
The CAADP Youth Network in partnership with The Centre for Youth Development Services (C4YDS) and the GIZ is pleased to invite Young Farmers and Agriprenuers to participate in a 2-day convening to discuss their role and engagement in the national and regional processes and frameworks around the implementation of CAADP and incorporation of Youths into the National Agriculture Investment Plan (NAIP). The African Youth Charter (Article 15) – empowers the African youth to participate in sustainable livelihoods and serve as custodians of Africa’s future Food Security. The CYN CAADP Youth Dialogues 2020, will enable African youth involved in Agribusiness to reflect on CAADP, achievements made so far, expectations for the next Biennial review consultations and create opportunities for policy dialogue and advocacy on youth mainstreaming in NAIP.
The two (2) day dialogue and consultative meeting will bring together (50) youth participants (agriprenuers, young farmers organizations, youth initiatives on environmental sustainability, National Youth Council, Government, UN Agencies, Media and relevant stakeholders) across Namibia, Botswana, Namibia And Zambia. The Official Launch of the CAADP Youth Network Country Chapters in these countries; will be one of the key highlights of the dialogues. The CYN CAADP National Youth Dialogues are piloted in Botswana, Namibia and Zambia, as part of CYN Strategic Plan 2020-2023: with funding from GIZ.
